Los Angeles, Jan 17 (NationPress) Hollywood actress Amanda Seyfried has expressed her desire to portray Dolly Parton on the silver screen, calling her "one of the best human beings on the planet".

In her pursuit of challenging roles, Seyfried revealed she is keen on playing a musician who strums the guitar. She had previously been considered for the role of folk icon Joni Mitchell, though that project did not materialize.

During a question-and-answer session on deadline.com, she stated: "I would love to take on a role that involves playing an instrument on camera as well... I had the chance to prepare for Joni Mitchell’s role and enjoyed diving into her Blue album, learning the guitar in a fresh way."

She added: "It’s a musically demanding yet enjoyable challenge. Mastering those songs makes it feel second nature, which is incredibly fulfilling and life-affirming. I would be thrilled to portray a musician who plays the guitar, as it is quite the challenge currently."

When asked about potential roles, Seyfried mentioned: "Eva Cassidy has a captivating story to tell. There's a narrative there. And a musical about Dolly Parton could be amazing too. Just think of her voice—such a sweet, sweetheart voice."

The actress will showcase her singing talents in her upcoming film The Testament of Ann Lee.

Seyfried takes on the lead role in Mona Fastvold's new movie, based on the tale of the 18th-century founder of the Christian sect known as the Shakers, who moved from the UK to the US in 1776 with a small group of followers. Amanda admitted that recording the musical pieces posed quite a challenge.

She shared with Variety: "Some of it involved un-singing—there’s no term for that! Or perhaps de-singing? A lot of it was about emulating animal sounds rather than melodic tunes. It was less about how I sounded; I was under stress in the Budapest studio, realizing I didn’t need to sound beautiful in the traditional sense."

"It was like embodying a woman on her knees, which was tough. We recorded the birthing song Human Treasures numerous times because I had to let go of my own expectations and find a voice that conveyed passion, rawness, grief, and desperation."

Amanda has previously performed on screen in two Mamma Mia! films and the film adaptation of Les Miserables. However, she acknowledged that this experience was distinctly different.
