The narrative follows Vijay, an inspector who is suspended from duty and embarks on a quest to avenge his parents' murder. With the aid of a resourceful street girl and a former enemy, he devises his plan for revenge.
The film saw a remake in 2013 featuring Priyanka Chopra and Ram Charan, directed by Apoorva Lakhia. It also included notable actors such as Sanjay Dutt, Prakash Raj, Atul Kulkarni, and Mahie Gill. The remake was filmed in both Hindi and Telugu, the latter being titled Thoofan.
On October 2, the icon expressed a thoughtful message on his blog, intertwining ancient wisdom with the festive spirit of Dussehra.
“May the victory of good over evil be ever blessed in our lives and in the lives of all humanity,” he articulated on his blog.
He referenced Chanakya Niti, emphasizing that while goodness should be celebrated, vigilance is equally crucial.
“Chanakya was a learned advisor to the Kingdom of Chandragupta Maurya... He taught wisdom... be cautious when you are designed to give or do goodness to others... to continue to trust all can lead to your problems in time... the good souls ever possess this bad or evil trait that they trust all and find goodness in all... good over evil... has various connotations,” he elaborated.
The thespian concluded by wishing everyone a Happy Dussehra.
