New Delhi, Oct 25 (NationPress) Punjabi sensation Ammy Virk expresses his aspiration to establish a lasting legacy that will motivate future generations in the realm of cinema.
Taking pride in the transformation of Punjabi films, Ammy shared with IANS: "In the past, our films had a budget of Rs. 2 crores; now it stands at Rs. 100 crores. I am hopeful it will reach Rs. 200 crores, and eventually Rs. 500 crores. This will occur when we create films rooted in our cultural history. We are set to produce films about Maharaja Ranjit Singh in the near future."
Discussing his vision for the next two to three decades, Ammy emphasized the importance of leaving a legacy.
"My singular focus is on this: legacy. We must establish a legacy. We need to leave something behind for our juniors, younger siblings, and future generations. I am considering the next 10–20 years or even 20–30 years," he stated.
For Ammy, honesty reigns supreme.
"Honesty is my top priority. Nothing supersedes honesty in my view."
Ammy also reflected on the distinctions between Punjabi cinema and Bollywood.
"In regional cinema and Bollywood, the primary difference lies in finances; they are known for their high-budget films. Each region has its unique essence; Punjab has its own fragrance while Gujarat has a different one. Thus, there exists a clear distinction between the two," he noted.
Ammy's latest endeavor is "Godday Godday Chaa 2", directed by Vijay Kumar Arora. This film narrates the tale of a vibrant Punjabi village where women take charge of traditional wedding customs, initiating a light-hearted contest of wits as both sides aim to outsmart one another with increasingly clever schemes. The film features Gurpreet Bhangu and Gitaj Bindrakhia.
Regarding the first part, "Godday Godday Chaa" was released in 2023. This Punjabi family comedy-drama, set in the 1980s and 1990s, stars Sonam Bajwa, Tania, Gitaj Bindrakhia, and Gurjazz. The film was honored with the Best Punjabi Feature Film award at the 71st National Film Awards.
