Mumbai, May 21 (NationPress) Actor Ankit Bhardwaj has become a part of the cast for the popular show 'Tenali Rama'. He will portray the character of Anantayya, a young man with a captivating and enigmatic personality.
Anantayya is the offspring of the esteemed General Raghavan, who is portrayed by Pradeep Soni. His irresistible charm enables him to easily capture the hearts of others, particularly Dharani, played by Mrunali Shirke. Nevertheless, his genuine motives are only uncovered later in the storyline.
Expressing his excitement for the role, Bhardwaj stated, “Anantayya is one of the few characters that skillfully balances between allure and fear. His unpredictability was what drew me in; he seems gentle, romantic, and calm, yet beneath that charm lies a mind brimming with ambition and darkness. The opportunity to portray a villain who doesn't outwardly appear to be one is incredibly thrilling. It challenges you to convey more through subtle expressions than through speech. I relish characters with depth, and Anantayya provides that opportunity. I can't wait for the audience to experience his journey; it’s bound to astonish them.”
Previously, in April, actor Kunal Karan Kapoor discussed his role as Laxmanappa Bhattaru, a former army doctor turned detective, in 'Tenali Rama'.
Sharing what intrigued him about the character, Kapoor mentioned to IANS, “Laxman is a unique role for me—he embodies layers, introspection, and has a quiet resilience that truly captivated me. Joining 'Tenali Rama' as a retired army doctor seeking tranquility, only to be caught up in exhilarating adventures, marks an exciting new phase in my career.”
“On a personal note, this is my first venture into a historical and costume drama. The thought of donning period-specific attire was initially intimidating, but the team has done an exceptional job with the look, and I’m grateful to have accepted this role. I vividly remember my first day on set, adjusting to the feel of the costume and questioning my ability to pull it off. However, as the day progressed, I felt increasingly connected to Laxman, and now it’s difficult to envision him without the costume,” he added.
'Tenali Rama' is broadcast from Monday to Saturday at 8 PM on Sony SAB.
