Mumbai, Oct 7 (NationPress) Acclaimed filmmaker and producer Anubhav Sinha, recognized for his impactful films like ‘Mulk’, ‘Thappad’, and ‘Bheed’, is gearing up for an extensive tour across smaller cities in India. On Tuesday, he shared a candid video on his Instagram, addressing his audience directly.
In the video, Sinha reveals that the main goal of his tour is to engage with cinema lovers and film consumers to grasp the significant disparity between the demand and supply within the film industry.
He articulates, “For the past few years, particularly every Friday when films are launched, the Hindi film industry, notably in Mumbai—known as Bollywood—is constantly theorizing about what genres will succeed, whether it be action or romance. This has resulted in an unprecedented communication gap between filmmakers, directors, producers, actors, and audiences.”
Sinha added that he frequently observes the audience's feedback on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, but feels that the mutual understanding in these conversations has significantly diminished.
He elaborates, “There are two groups of people in Bombay. One consists of locals who have grown up here, while the other includes individuals like me who have migrated from smaller towns over the past few decades. My roots are in Banaras, and I have studied in Aligarh. I resonate with the thoughts and aspirations of smaller cities. Recently, during my visit back to Banaras, I discovered that the city has evolved significantly since I left 30 years ago. As a filmmaker, I realized the necessity of truly understanding what the audience desires.”
Sinha continues, “I am announcing my intent to visit at least 15 to 25 small cities within the next two months. I plan to meet local audiences, visit theaters, and gain insights into their expectations from Bollywood. This mission is essential for me as a writer, director, and producer, as it allows me to engage directly with the audience. Plus, I’m looking forward to enjoying the local cuisine!”
He concludes, “I am eagerly anticipating this journey to converse with theater owners and managers, as I believe this tour, titled 'Chal Picture Chalein Tour', will greatly enhance my understanding of audience preferences. I will keep you informed about my schedule so we can connect and converse.”
