Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, March 11 (NationPress) Renowned Bollywood star Anupam Kher took to social media on Wednesday to share a heartfelt letter addressed to his younger self at the age of 16.
In his reflective note, he expressed that no matter the heights of his fame, he will always cherish being the same small-town boy, fondly referred to as “Bittoo from Shimla”.
Looking back on his extraordinary life journey, Kher recounted the transformation from a dream-filled youth to one of the most esteemed actors in Indian cinema.
He began with, “LETTER TO MY 16-YEAR-OLD SELF!
Dear 16-Year-Old Me (Bittu),
As I gaze at you in this photograph, I see a hopeful boy from Shimla with big aspirations and a heart full of uncertainty.
The Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge actor noted, “You may not realize it yet, but life is about to unfold in ways you can't imagine. From the serene hills of Shimla to stages, studios, and screens across the globe. You will encounter countless individuals, portray numerous roles, face applause, critiques, triumphs, failures, and challenges that will test your resilience.”
He went on to say, “But let me share something that will bring a smile to your face.
After all these years, I am still you.
The same small-town dreamer who believed that “Kuch bhi ho sakta hai.”
The same boy who never let circumstances extinguish his dreams.
The same boy who laughed heartily, felt deeply, and refused to surrender.
Anupam emphasized that despite the world’s changes around him, he has maintained the essence of his youthful spirit.
“Yes, the world will evolve around you. Your name will resonate further than you ever envisioned. Yet, the most valuable treasure you will carry is the spirit of that boy (Bittu) from Shimla — Curious, Hopeful, Stubborn, and filled with GRATITUDE.”
He added, “You will stumble many times. But each fall will teach you how to rise TALLER. One day, you will even deem yourself a “SUCCESS STORY of FAILURES.”
And you will genuinely mean it. So, THANK YOU for DREAMING WITHOUT PERMISSION, for BELIEVING without PROOF, and for WORKING without GUARANTEES.”
He expressed gratitude for the INNOCENCE, COURAGE, and RELENTLESS HOPE that his younger self embodied. “Thanks to you, I continue this journey with enthusiasm at 70+! It feels like life is merely at the INTERVAL POINT!”
He concluded, “Stay true to yourself, dear one. The world will try to ALTER you.
But your greatest triumph will be in remaining YOURSELF! With love, pride, and gratitude,
You…. Bittu, (now known as ANUPAM)
Just a tad older,
but still the boy from Shimla.
