Rahman shared a selfie on Instagram featuring Felton, with an overlay that read: “With Draco”, referencing the character Felton portrayed in the J.K. Rowling film series.
In his caption, Rahman wrote: “@t22felton is a major part of the #Gandhi series I am scoring which premiered yesterday at @tiff_net @hansalmehta @applausesocial @pratikgandhiofficial”.
Felton will portray Josiah Oldfield in this series directed by Hansal Mehta. Gandhi illustrates the life of Mahatma Gandhi, drawing from the works 'Gandhi Before India' and 'Gandhi: The Years That Changed the World' by Ramachandra Guha. The show is planned to unfold over three seasons, with filming for the first season—set between 1888 and 1915—concluding in August 2024.
The inaugural season chronicles Gandhi’s formative years, beginning in colonial India as a curious teen, transitioning to a reserved law student in London, and ultimately as a young lawyer who spends 23 transformative years in South Africa.
Starring Pratik Gandhi as Mahatma Gandhi and actress Bhamini Oza as Kasturba Gandhi, the series is produced by Applause Entertainment.
Rahman’s accolades include six National Film Awards, two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe Award, and six Tamil Nadu State Film Awards. In 2010, he received the Padma Bhushan, India's third-highest civilian honor.
On the other hand, Felton's career commenced with commercials, and he made his film debut as Peagreen Clock in The Borrowers. He portrayed Louis T. Leonowens in Anna and the King before being cast as Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, which began with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and concluded with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.
Felton also featured in the sci-fi film Rise of the Planet of the Apes and was later seen in indie films From the Rough and The Apparition.
