Los Angeles, Nov 2 (NationPress) Hollywood actress-singer Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are elevating their friendship to new heights. The duo has now established a lasting connection through their shared experience in ‘Wicked: For Good’.
In a recent Instagram update, Ariana Grande, 32, expressed her excitement as she counted down the days until the premiere of ‘For Good’, the sequel and continuation of 2024's ‘Wicked’, according to People magazine.
“Happy wicked month @wickedmovie 20 days,” Ariana wrote alongside a snapshot of herself and Erivo, 38, on set, showcasing their matching ‘For Good’ tattoos inked on their palms.
As reported by People, the cast and crew of ‘Wicked’ have been vocal about the profound friendship that has blossomed between the pop star and the Tony Award winner, who portray Galinda and Elphaba, respectively, in the Broadway musical adaptation.
Director Jon M. Chu previously remarked that “it was one of the most beautiful friendships to witness develop.”
“These two are the two biggest voices in the world, perhaps in our lifetime. They could have disliked each other,” Chu, 46, commented regarding Wicked's leading ladies. “There could have been significant diva behavior, but they consistently prioritized Wicked over their personal egos, exemplifying the mark of a true artist. They immersed themselves in Elphaba and Galinda, discovering themselves within these characters.”
“This only enhances the larger-than-life essence of Elphaba and Galinda, allowing us to connect with them like never before,” he continued. “This is why their portrayal feels culturally significant, making my job much easier.”
For the cinematic adaptation of ‘Wicked’, Erivo and Grande took on roles initially performed by Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth on Broadway.
