Mumbai, Nov 26 (NationPress) Legendary actress Asha Parekh made a heartfelt visit to the residence of the late actor Dharmendra on Wednesday. She was spotted arriving at the actor's home in Juhu to extend her condolences to the mourning family.

Following the loss of the actor, nearly the entire film industry has gathered to express their sympathies to his loved ones. On Tuesday, prominent Bollywood figures such as Ranbir Kapoor and his wife Alia Bhatt, along with music composer Anu Malik, were also seen at the late actor’s residence.

Dharmendra had previously been hospitalized at Breach Candy Hospital in South Mumbai but was discharged after showing signs of recovery. He was recuperating at his Juhu home. Reports indicate that he was placed on a ventilator due to severe breathing difficulties. Tragically, he passed away on Monday.

Recognized as one of Bollywood's most cherished stars, Dharmendra was born in 1935 in Punjab and began his acting journey in the early 1960s after being discovered through a talent competition. In the late 1950s, Filmfare magazine, in collaboration with Bimal Roy Productions, organized a nationwide contest to find new talents for Hindi cinema.

He participated in the competition and emerged as the winner in 1958, selected for his captivating looks and natural charisma. This achievement opened the door to his film career, and the same competition later helped discover Rajesh Khanna, one of Hindi cinema's greatest icons.

Dharmendra swiftly gained fame thanks to his good looks, emotional depth, and effortless screen presence. His diverse skills enabled him to shine in romance, action, and comedy. Some of his most renowned films include ‘Phool Aur Patthar’, which solidified his status as a leading man, and ‘Sholay’, where he portrayed the beloved and witty character Veeru, leaving a lasting legacy.

The actor was honored with the Padma Bhushan, India's third-highest civilian award.
