Mumbai, Nov 24 (NationPress) Director and choreographer Farah Khan expressed her sorrow over the passing of the legendary actor Dharmendra, who left us on Monday.

Farah shared a nostalgic photograph with the late star on her Instagram Stories, writing, “May god bless your soul, Dharamji. You have brought us immense joy through your performances and your vibrant personality! My condolences to the Deol family.”

Dharmendra had been hospitalized at Breach Candy Hospital in South Mumbai but was discharged after showing signs of recovery. He was recuperating at his residence in Juhu. Despite battling breathing issues that had him on a ventilator, he sadly passed away on Monday.

As the news circulated within Bollywood, many industry figures came to pay their respects. Aamir Khan and Abhishek Bachchan were seen at the crematorium in Vile Parle, and Karan Johar honored the actor in a heartfelt social media tribute. Members of Dharmendra's family also attended the cremation.

Born in 1935 in Punjab, Dharmendra emerged as one of Bollywood's most cherished stars. He began his career in the early 1960s after being discovered through a national talent search organized by Filmfare and Bimal Roy Productions. He won the competition in 1958, which opened the doors to Hindi cinema. This talent hunt also led to the discovery of Rajesh Khanna, another icon of Indian film.

With his striking looks and captivating emotional range, Dharmendra quickly became a household name. He excelled in various genres including romance, action, and comedy. His notable films include Phool Aur Patthar, which solidified his position as a leading man, and Sholay, where his portrayal of the witty Veeru became legendary.

In recognition of his contributions, Dharmendra was honored with the Padma Bhushan, India's third-highest civilian award.
