Actor Ayush Viz, best known for portraying Mohit in the long-running television drama Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, has spoken warmly about the enduring friendships he formed on the show — particularly with former co-stars Karan Mehra and Hina Khan. In a candid conversation, Viz revealed that the bonds forged on set have outlasted the season by years.

A Bond That Has Stood the Test of Time

'Karan and I are very close, we share a very special bond even after all these years. In fact, we met for dinner last week and it was just like old times, we picked up exactly where we left off,' Viz said.

He added that his circle from the show extends well beyond Mehra. 'Apart from him, Hina, Neha (Saroopa), Nidhi (Uttam) — I am in touch with all of them, we have a little group and we keep checking on each other. Yeh Rishta gave us friends for life, not just co-stars.'

Prayers for Hina Khan's Recovery

Viz turned emotional when the conversation shifted to Hina Khan, who has been battling a serious health condition. 'It's really unfortunate what happened with Hina's health, it had shaken all of us. She is such a strong and positive person, one of the strongest I know. We all pray and wish for her recovery. Seeing her fight this battle with so much grace and courage is truly inspiring for all of us,' he said.

Khan's illness, which became public knowledge earlier this year, has drawn an outpouring of support from across the television fraternity. Viz's remarks reflect the depth of solidarity within the Yeh Rishta alumni community.

On Bigg Boss: 'Too Daunting for Someone Like Me'

When asked whether he would follow Mehra and Khan onto the reality show Bigg Boss, Viz was candid about his reservations. 'Bigg Boss is scary for me, to be honest. The format is so intense — you are cut off from the world, that scares me,' he said.

He expressed a preference for strategy-driven formats instead. 'I would be more keen for something like The Traitors maybe, that has more strategy and mystery to it,' he said. However, he left the door slightly ajar, citing his admiration for Salman Khan: 'I have worked with Salman Sir on Race 3 and he is amazing. I think he will be the only reason I would ever even consider doing Bigg Boss. Just to be in a show hosted by him again would be special.'

A Career Behind and in Front of the Camera

Beyond acting, Viz has built a multifaceted career in the film industry. He has appeared in television productions including Tera Kya Hoga Alia and Janani, and has also worked as an assistant and second-unit director alongside choreographer-director Remo D'Souza on major Bollywood productions, including Race 3 and Street Dancer 3D.

The Social Media Generation Gap

Viz reflected candidly on how the entertainment landscape has shifted since his Yeh Rishta days. 'During our season, social media and these digital platforms were almost non-existent. We didn't have Instagram, reels, or all these opportunities to connect with fans directly. I feel we have definitely missed out on a goldmine of opportunity,' he said.

'Today actors can build so much through social media, brand collaborations and unscripted content. We were purely dependent on the show's TRP. If we had these platforms back then, our reach and growth would have been completely different,' he added. His remarks underscore a generational divide in how television careers are now built and sustained — one that continues to reshape the industry's economics. As digital platforms grow and unscripted content proliferates, Viz's generation may yet find new avenues to leverage their legacy fan bases.
