Mumbai, Feb 24 (NationPress) The iconic Amitabh Bachchan has once again joined forces with legendary actor Kamal Haasan after nearly 40 years, marking the start of filming for the eagerly awaited sequel, Kalki 2.
Big B shared a collection of images from the filming of Kalki 2 on his blog, portraying the character Ashwatthama, the son of the sage and warrior Dronacharya. He also posted photos with Kamal, reminiscing that their last collaboration was in the 1985 movie Geraftaar, directed by Prayag Raaj.
In his blog entry, the seasoned actor mentioned that he would miss his usual Sunday gathering with fans while he is busy shooting in Hyderabad.
He wrote, "I informed them that this Sunday I won't be able to attend since I'm filming in Hyderabad... yet they still came to check in... my apologies, but work takes precedence... (sic)."
The 80-year-old actor expressed his enthusiasm about reuniting with Kamal Haasan after such a lengthy period.
"And meeting the amazing KAMAL HAASAN again... it's been ages since we last worked together... last time was in Geraftaar," he shared.
Geraftaar also featured Poonam Dhillon and Rajinikanth. This film was among the top earners of 1985, showcasing the tale of brothers Karan and Kishan, separated when Karan is wrongfully accused of murder, leading him to take his own life.
On the sequel to the epic mythological science fiction film slated for 2024, directed by Nag Ashwin, he stated: "Work on Kalki 2 has begun, and I will always cherish the love and support from everyone during the upcoming Sunday... I hope to be with all of you then. Much love."
Kalki 2898 AD features Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani. Inspired by Hindu texts, it marks the first chapter in the proposed Kalki Cinematic Universe.
Set in a dystopian future in 2898 AD in Kashi, the narrative follows a group on a quest to safeguard lab subject SUM-80's unborn child, who is believed to be Kalki, the ultimate incarnation of Vishnu.
