Chennai, Aug 19 (NationPress) If the current buzz in the film industry is accurate, renowned director Lokesh Kanakaraj, fresh off his blockbuster success with 'Coolie', may soon helm a film featuring Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan in leading roles before he embarks on the much-anticipated sequel to his hit film 'Kaithi', starring Karthi.
Social media is rife with speculation that Lokesh Kanakaraj recently met with Kamal Haasan to pitch a script, which the veteran actor has reportedly approved. Industry insiders suggest that this movie could be produced by Kamal Haasan's own production company, Raaj Kamal Films International.
The prospect of seeing Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan share the screen again after so many years has thrilled fans. However, it is important to note that no official confirmation has been made as of yet.
In the meantime, it's worth mentioning that producer S R Prabhu had previously stated that filming for Lokesh Kanakaraj's eagerly awaited action movie 'Kaithi 2', featuring Karthi, is set to begin by year's end.
Speaking to the press during an event, producer S R Prabhu, whose production house is behind the upcoming project, noted in May, “Preparations for 'Kaithi 2' have already commenced. In fact, we started gearing up for shooting about a month ago. Filming will kick off by the end of the year. Karthi is set to begin shooting for his film with director Tamizh, known for the acclaimed cop drama Taanakaran, next month. Once Karthi wraps that film, he will dive into 'Kaithi 2'.
For those unfamiliar, the first installment in the franchise, 'Kaithi', was a major hit. Lokesh Kanagaraj has previously revealed that his inspiration for Kaithi came from the Bruce Willis classic 'Die Hard'.
The director elaborated that in addition to Die Hard, he was also inspired by a news article he had come across. “My assistant directors and I were discussing a news piece when I got the idea for the story,” he explained.
A distinctive feature of Kaithi was its lack of female leads, focusing instead on a gripping narrative that unfolds over the course of a single night. The plot centers around a man who returns home from prison after serving his sentence, with Karthi portraying a lorry driver caught in a thrilling action sequence.
