Mumbai, Aug 13 (NationPress) On the occasion of the beloved actress Sridevi’s 62nd birth anniversary on Wednesday, filmmaker Boney Kapoor took a nostalgic journey back to 1990, recalling a memorable incident where his wife misinterpreted a compliment as a playful tease.
Boney shared an old photo on Instagram from Sridevi’s 27th birthday in 1990. He humorously revealed that during her birthday celebration in Chennai, he intentionally wished her a “happy 26th birthday,” which the late actress took as a jest.
The throwback snapshot captures Sridevi, appearing to playfully admonish Boney with a smile for his teasing remark.
In his heartfelt caption, Boney wrote: “In 1990 at her birthday party in Chennai when I wished her happy 26th birthday while it was her 27th birthday to make her feel younger, thinking it was a compliment, but she thought I was teasing her.”
Boney frequently shares memories of Sridevi on social media, reminiscing about their past. Just last month, he posted another old photograph of Sridevi from before their marriage.
He captioned it: “Watching meeeee and smiling, this was before we got married.”
For those unfamiliar, Boney and Sridevi fell in love while working on the sets of the 1987 film “Mr. India.” They married in 1996 and were blessed with two daughters, Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor.
Sadly, Sridevi passed away at the age of 54 in 2018 in Dubai due to an accidental drowning.
In March, Boney shared more nostalgic snapshots of Sridevi being awarded the 'Mr. India' silver jubilee trophy by Raj Kapoor.
He wrote: “Sri being presented the Mr. India Silver Jubilee trophy joyfully by Raj Uncle, and in the third picture, she is listening attentively to Raj Uncle, probably as he narrated the plot of ‘Gungat ke Pat Khol,’ for which he once mentioned wanting to cast her. I was even affectionately called Cinderella by his family.”
He also shared that when Raj Kapoor met Sridevi at the event, he told his wife, Krishna Kapoor, “The wait has been worth it.”
“My mother is also present in the fourth picture where Raj Uncle’s comment regarding meeting her is evident, addressing Krishna Aunty, ‘The wait has been worth it’ upon meeting Sri,” he concluded.
