Mumbai, Aug 13 (NationPress) When asked to reflect on the iconic actress Sridevi during her 62nd birth anniversary, filmmaker Shekhar Kapur expressed that he would require a lifetime to honor her legacy.
On his official Instagram account, Shekhar recounted an amusing exchange: "It’s Sridevi’s Birthday today,’ the journalist said. ‘Can you give us a bite?..’ ‘How long do you have?’ I inquired. ‘However long you need?’... ‘A lifetime’ I replied."
For those unfamiliar, Shekhar directed Sridevi in the 1987 superhero classic Mr India, featuring Anil Kapoor as well.
The film was produced by Anil's brother Boney Kapoor, who later became Sridevi’s husband.
Mr India continues to be cherished by cinema enthusiasts.
In a heartfelt tribute, Boney also reminisced about his late spouse, Sridevi, sharing a treasured moment with followers when she misinterpreted his compliment as a jest.
Boney posted a nostalgic image from Sridevi’s 27th birthday celebration in 1990 on his official Instagram.
He revealed that during her birthday bash in Chennai, he purposely wished her a “happy 26th birthday” to imply that she was becoming younger each year. However, Sridevi mistakenly thought he was teasing her.
He captioned: “In 1990 at her birthday party in Chennai, I wished her a happy 26th birthday while it was actually her 27th to compliment her by suggesting that she’s getting younger with each passing day, but she thought I was teasing her.”
For those unaware, Boney and Sridevi fell in love on the sets of Mr. India. After a period of dating, they married in 1996 and were blessed with two daughters, Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor.
Tragically, Sridevi passed away unexpectedly in Dubai in 2018 due to an accidental drowning at the age of 54.
