Mumbai, March 27 (NationPress) Filmmaker Shonali Bose asserts that college life, particularly in a hostel, is a pivotal period where young individuals truly come into their own.

In discussing her series “Ziddi Girls,” she characterized it as a genuine homage to this evolution. “The formative years of adulthood are encapsulated in college life, especially within a hostel. You become YOURSELF. It’s a time that remains etched in memory. Ziddi poignantly captures that era, allowing individuals from all walks of life to revisit their past. It resonates with everyone—regardless of age or gender,” Shonali expressed.

“The essence of dialogue was central to our conversations while crafting Ziddi Girls. It’s about a dialogue spanning generations and differing ideologies among peers, educators, and parents. It’s about engaging with those who may not share your perspective or language. In today's politically charged climate, it seeks to bridge gaps with those we may disagree with, rather than silencing them,” Neha Veena Verma, the writer and co-director of Ziddi Girls, elaborated.

The show’s creator, Rangita Pritish Nandy, added, “The collective nostalgia of growing up, discovering oneself, and finding one’s voice—all the experiences linked to college and hostel life—are what make Ziddi resonate across generations. College represents perhaps the most intimate, vulnerable chapter of our lives—caught in the struggle between asserting ourselves as adults and actually navigating the responsibilities that come with it. It’s a time filled with tough decisions and numerous personal resolutions—whether with oneself, parents, or society at large. It’s a period of conflict and first loves.”

“Ziddi Girls” showcases emerging talents such as Atiya Tara Nayak, Umang Bhadana, Zaina Ali, Deeya Damini, and Anupriya Caroli, alongside esteemed actors like Simran, Nandita Das, Nandish Singh Sandhu, Lillete Dubey, and Revathy.
