Broadway Musical ‘Mughal-e-Azam: The Musical’ Celebrates 300th Performance in Delhi

Mumbai, Dec 13 (NationPress) The musical production ‘Mughal-e-Azam: The Musical’ is gearing up for its 300th performance in the capital, Delhi, this February, after its showcase in Mumbai from January 9 to January 26.
This musical narrates the timeless tale of Prince Salim and Anarkali, featuring 12 iconic songs from the original film.
Directed by Feroz Abbas Khan, the show has enchanted audiences with more than 275 performances across eight countries since its launch in 2016. The production will be staged in Mumbai at NMACC from January 9 to January 26, 2025, before making its way to Delhi at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on February 13.
Regarding the show, Feroz Abbas Khan remarked, "For our significant 300th performance, we felt it was essential to come to Delhi as the audience here has consistently showered us with remarkable warmth and affection. What has remained constant since we began our journey is how it not only stirs nostalgia but also revitalizes appreciation across generations for our rich cultural heritage. This musical has evolved into more than just an entertainment piece; it is now acknowledged as a cultural landmark, which speaks volumes about the essence of K Asif’s masterpiece that continues to enchant even after 65 years."
He added, "This narrative magically transcends all boundaries, resonating with a diverse audience worldwide. During our recent season in North America, our flash mob performance at New York's Times Square went viral instantly, and we were overwhelmed by the enthusiastic response from those who paused to watch and applaud us."
The show boasts over 550 exquisite costumes, magnificent sets, live singing, and stunning Kathak choreography, and is hailed as one of the most extravagant productions in the history of Indian theatre. It is produced by Deepesh Salgia under the auspices of Shapoorji Pallonji.
