Sandra Bullock Advocates for Embracing AI in Hollywood
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Los Angeles, April 17 (NationPress) Hollywood star Sandra Bullock presents a unique perspective on artificial intelligence that diverges from the usual views. She advocates for the film industry to "embrace" AI technology.
The 61-year-old actress, promoting her latest film ‘Practical Magic 2’, has encouraged fans to utilize AI for crafting their own trailers. While she emphasized the importance of caution in its application, Sandra firmly believes there is "a place" for AI within the entertainment sector, according to reports by ‘Female First UK’.
During her appearance at the CNBC Changemakers Summit, she remarked, “Well, there could be worse with my image. Sorry.”
On a more serious note, she elaborated, "But it’s here. We need to observe it. We must understand it. We have to embrace it in a constructive and imaginative manner, making it our ally. However, we must be exceedingly cautious and aware, as there are those who may misuse it for harmful purposes. I truly believe there’s a place for it.”
Warner Bros, the studio behind the film, acknowledged that the unofficial AI-generated trailers for ‘Practical Magic 2’ are not "great," but they recognize the enthusiasm these creations demonstrate for the film.
Pam Abdy, Co-Chair and CEO of Warner Bros Motion Pictures, stated, “I know it’s not great, but it’s also exciting. Because that means there’s a desire for it, and that indicates that people want to engage with the movie.”
Sandra is not alone in her favorable outlook on AI; Uma Thurman recently expressed her belief that there’s no reason to feel apprehensive about this technology.
In an interview with America's InStyle magazine, she mentioned, “I’m sure there are going to be great benefits, and there will also be significant costs, which is the case with most things. I don’t see the point in getting anxious. The whole idea of a 'new normal' is scheduled heartbreak.”
“We must strive to be flexible, adaptable, open-minded, and optimistic. What else are we doing on this planet?” she added.
As reported by ‘Female First UK’, Director James Cameron recently expressed interest in AI's potential to reduce special effects costs, though he remains skeptical about the technology taking over the world as some fear.
In an interview with The Times, he remarked, “Well, artificial super-intelligence is a really bad idea. Because as a society, we can’t agree on one fundamental thing, and until we can establish what is good, virtuous, ethical, and moral, we cannot teach a machine to handle such matters for us. So everyone, please stop.”
