SZA has expressed her discontent about the use of artificial intelligence in music production, stating that she feels "really offended" by the sound of some tracks generated by AI.
In an interview with i-D magazine, she stated, "I feel like I’m at war because of AI. It’s happening disproportionately with Black music. Why am I hearing AI covers of Olivia Dean, when Olivia Dean just emerged? She’s unable to even gather the streams. I’m also very offended by the kind of Black music that’s being produced through AI. It sounds like weird, stereotypical struggle music."
She elaborated, "I’m not competing against pop singers or R&B artists. My battle is against anti-intellectualism and the ease with which things are done. The blend of experiences that my human journey offers is something AI cannot replicate. I want to channel this angst into unexpected directions,” she added.

She remarked, "I feel intensely Black right now. It’s frightening to see how unprepared and fragmented we are as a society. The mask is off, and anything can happen. We lack the empowerment that comes from community and solidarity. We simply don’t have it."
