Mumbai, Feb 24 (NationPress) The creators of the series “Dupahiya”, featuring Gajraj Rao and Renuka Shahane, unveiled the trailer on Monday, brimming with chaos, comedy, and fun.
Alongside Gajraj Rao and Renuka Shahane, the show includes notable performances by Bhuvan Arora, Sparsh Shrivastava, Shivani Raghuvanshi, and Yashpal Sharma.
The trailer begins in the fictional village Dhadakpur—dubbed the Belgium of Bihar—which is preparing to celebrate 25 years of being crime-free. However, chaos ensues when a unique motorbike, intended as a wedding gift, is stolen just seven days prior to the wedding.
Set against the charming backdrop of Dhadakpur, Dupahiya is a comedic drama that intricately blends humor and drama with the essence of small-town life.
Gajraj Rao, who plays Banwari Jha, the bride's father in Dupahiya, expressed his excitement about participating in the series.
“Portraying Banwari Jha—a mathematics teacher who prioritizes his daughter's happiness over calculations—has been a wonderful journey. This series is born from the amazing collaboration of Salona Bains Joshi, Sonam Nair, and Shubh Shivdasani, along with a fantastic cast and crew,” he stated.
“It perfectly encapsulates the quirks, chaos, and charm of small-town existence, intermingling humor with emotional moments.”
Renuka Shahane, portraying Pushplata, the village head, remarked that her role is a departure from her previous work.
“As the determined and lovable sarpanch of Dhadakpur, this character has allowed me to hone my acting skills. Collaborating with Sonam Nair and an outstanding cast was a deeply gratifying experience, evident in every scene of the series,” she shared.
She added: “Dupahiya is a delightful heartland comedy that reflects the dreams and aspirations of small-town India.”
Shivani Raghuvanshi, who plays Roshni Jha, the bride, expressed her joy in embodying her character. “Playing Roshni Jha in Dupahiya has been a complete pleasure. She is fun, charming, and knows exactly what she wants, while living in her own world.”
Shivani described her character as innocent yet resilient, untouched by her circumstances, and unafraid to express her thoughts.
“This role is a refreshing change from my previous characters. Bringing her to life was exciting and challenging. The entire journey of Dupahiya has been memorable, from the script to the amazing team. The energy on set made it one of my best experiences ever.”
Sparsh Shrivastava, who plays Bhugol, shared that Dupahiya has been an incredible adventure, made special by the outstanding cast and crew.
“What stood out most to me is that this is my first comedy-drama series, and it has pushed me out of my comfort zone. My character, Bhugol, is both lovable and eccentric—an aspiring influencer with a vibrant personality and a dreamer's heart.”
Bhuvan Arora, who plays Amavas, mentioned that his character communicates more through silence than words, which fascinated him.
“I thoroughly enjoyed exploring his complex personality. The series is a true labor of love—entertaining, hilarious, and heartwarming—brought to life by an incredibly talented team, both in front of and behind the camera.”
Created and executive produced by Salona Bains Joshi and Shubh Shivdasani under their banner, Bombay Film Cartel, the series is directed by Sonam Nair and written by Avinash Dwivedi and Chirag Garg.
The show will be available for streaming on Prime Video.
