Los Angeles, Aug 4 (NationPress) Singer-songwriter Chappell Roan, known for her recent single 'The Subway', is currently not in a rush to unveil her second studio album.
The talented artist disclosed that her "second project is yet to be created". Having debuted her first album, 'The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess', in September 2023, she has garnered a Grammy for Best New Artist and released three singles, including 'The Subway', 'The Giver', and 'Good Luck, Babe', according to 'Variety'.
In an interview with 'Vogue', she stated, "There is no album. There is no collection of songs".
So, when can fans anticipate a new full-length project from Roan? She mentioned, "It took me five years to write the first one, and it’s probably going to take at least five to write the next". She emphasized, "I’m not that type of writer who can produce quickly".
According to 'Variety', Roan expressed that she doesn’t believe she creates "good music when I force myself to do anything".
She acknowledged the criticism, saying, "I see some comments sometimes, like, ‘She’s everywhere except that damn studio’". She clarified that even if she spent 12 hours a day in the studio, it wouldn’t guarantee a quicker album release.
Regarding 'The Subway', which she first performed live at Gov Ball last year, she remarked that it “took an annoying amount of time to get just right”. She admitted, “I just wasn’t ready to put it out yet. It was too painful. I was too angry and scared about my life to share it.”
However, she feels more grounded now, crediting part of her peace to stepping back from social media. “Socials harm the hell out of me and my art. I’m not doing that to myself anymore”, she stated.
“I’ve never written an album without Instagram or anything. The album process is purely mine. No one on TikTok gets to see it,” she added.
