Los Angeles, Feb 12 (NationPress) Singer Sabrina Carpenter has shared how her own heartbreak influenced her highly praised 2022 album.
She mentioned that the album was born from a notably painful breakup.
The “Espresso” hitmaker conveyed to Vogue magazine: "That was my first time really, really getting to sit and steer the whole thing."
Carpenter, who previously had relationships with the likes of Joshua Bassett, Shawn Mendes, and Barry Keoghan, characterized the album as her "first big-girl album," according to femalefirst.co.uk.
Reflecting on the romance that inspired this record, Sabrina expressed: "My biggest heartbreak to date. My first real one. I hate to say that. It certainly makes all my exes before that seem like… I don’t intend to do that. It’s just that I think in a sense of truly understanding the grieving-someone-that’s-alive feeling. I never experienced that until this one."
Meanwhile, she has previously stated that "there’s more" to her than just chart-topping hits.
The acclaimed pop star believes there is a greater depth to her character than many might assume.
The singer shared with Paper magazine: "There’s more to me than my (hit songs). There’s a person underneath that sometimes feels very confident and other days simply can’t get out of bed.
"I think it’s crucial for people to recognize that, regardless of whom they listen to, they’re a person."
Sabrina also admitted to experiencing anxiety ahead of the launch of 'Short n' Sweet,' her 2024 album featuring tracks like 'Espresso' and 'Please Please Please.'
Sabrina, who starred in the Disney series 'Girl Meets World' from 2014 to 2017, remarked: "I get so scared to share anything."
