Los Angeles, June 17 (NationPress) Pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter has achieved a remarkable milestone with her single “Manchild,” which has debuted at the top of the singles chart, marking her first number one debut and her second song to reach this position.
Previously, she topped the charts with “Please Please Please,” a track from her Grammy-winning album “Short n’ Sweet,” which dominated for a week at this same time last year, according to reports from varity.com.
“Manchild” serves as the lead single for Carpenter's forthcoming album “Man’s Best Friend,” set for release on August 29. Released on June 5, “Manchild” has garnered an impressive 27 million official streams, 14 million radio airplay audience impressions, and 20,000 sales in the United States.
The single is also available in a 7-inch vinyl format, with 14,000 copies sold, which includes an exclusive instrumental B-side titled, “Inside of Your Head When You’ve Just Won an Argument with a Man.”
In an Instagram post, Carpenter shared her experience creating the song, stating, “I wrote ‘Manchild’ on a random Tuesday with Amy and Jack not too long after finishing ‘Short n’ Sweet.’ It ended up being the best random Tuesday of my life,” referring to co-producer Jack Antonoff and Amy Allen.
She added, “Not only was it so fun to write, but this song became a reflection of the confusing and fun young adult years of life. It sounds like the embodiment of a loving eye roll and feels like a never-ending summer road trip! I wanted to share it now so you can enjoy it all summer long!”
Aside from Carpenter’s “Manchild,” there were no new entries in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100.
Carpenter first gained fame through her role in the series Girl Meets World. She debuted with the single “Can't Blame a Girl for Trying” in 2014, followed by albums Eyes Wide Open, Evolution, Singular: Act I, and Singular: Act II.
Her sixth studio album, Short n' Sweet, reached the top of the US Billboard 200, featuring top-three singles like “Espresso,” “Please Please Please,” and “Taste,” and won two Grammy Awards.
