Los Angeles, March 2 (NationPress) Hollywood star Jessica Chastain has shared her insights on how she safeguarded herself during the intimate scenes in the film ‘Dreams’.

The 48-year-old actress portrays Jennifer McCarthy, a wealthy socialite entangled in an affair with Fernando Rodriguez, an undocumented immigrant played by Isaac Hernandez. She emphasized that the film's sensual moments were essential for narrative progression, according to a report by Female First UK.

When asked about her feelings regarding the intimate scenes, Chastain expressed to Collider, "Absolutely, it was nerve-wracking... The thought of doing a s*x scene with a professional ballet dancer is quite complex and challenging."

She elaborated, "For instance, the staircase scene was my idea. Despite all the intimate scenes being present, I requested Michel to clarify the purpose of each one in relation to the story."

"Initially, the staircase scene was meant to take place in the living room with large windows. I suggested finding a more private setting within the house to ensure I felt protected during the shoot. What I appreciate about the staircase scene is that it evokes a sense of watching something private, yet there’s minimal exposure. I’m covered throughout, yet it feels very impactful, and many have discussed it. This shows that sometimes, less is more; you don’t need to be explicit to convey strong emotions," she added.

According to Female First UK, Jessica frequently engages in intimate scenes, yet she feels comfortable doing so when it serves the storyline.

The Oscar-winning actress remarked, "I feel like I'm involved in s*x scenes regularly—every project I undertake. Even in ‘Tammy Faye’, I portrayed a love scene while she was pregnant. It’s something I often do, but I embrace it because it challenges me. When something is demanding, I lean into it. Roles like 'Scenes From A Marriage' or 'Jennifer' require that kind of closeness and openness."

Chastain admitted her decision to join ‘Dreams’ was influenced by her desire to collaborate again with Michel Franco, with whom she previously worked on the 2023 film ‘Memory’.

She stated, "Working with Michel Franco was a huge factor. I enjoyed our collaboration on 'Memory'. He shoots each scene in one take, so if you don't deliver, there's no editing to rectify it. You have to be prepared and hope he selects a decent take. It's a tough approach, akin to live theatre, but I love that aspect of our collaboration," she concluded.
