New Delhi, April 23 (NationPress) Darshan Kumaar is deeply disheartened and shaken upon hearing about the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. The actor remarked that the painful reality was portrayed in his movie 'The Kashmir Files', yet witnessing a similar event unfold again is truly devastating.

The attack, which marks the deadliest incident in the Valley since the 2019 Pulwama assault, took place on Tuesday at Baisaran, a picturesque meadow in Anantnag district accessible only by foot or pony. A group of tourists visiting the area were the targets.

The Resistance Front, a clandestine group linked to the banned Pakistan-based terror organization Lashkar-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility for the attack. Official government confirmation is still awaited.

In an interview with IANS, Darshan expressed: “The news of the terror attack in Pahalgam has left me shaken and heartbroken. I couldn’t even muster the courage to view the actual footage — it’s too disturbing, too painful. Innocent lives, families, children — they were simply there to celebrate and create memories.”

“In an instant, their lives were shattered by this senseless act of terror. It’s beyond devastating.”

The actor reminisced about his time filming in Kashmir, where local youth often approached him, voicing their concerns about the dwindling number of tourists.

“They shared how it impacts their livelihoods. They yearn for peace, growth, and a hopeful future. This attack is not only an assault on the innocent victims; it’s an attack on the peace, people, and future of Kashmir,” he stated.

Darshan added: “Kashmir is finally beginning to shine, and incidents like this threaten to plunge it back into darkness. That’s why I believe we, as a nation, must unite against terrorism.”

“Most importantly, the people of Kashmir must elevate their voices now more than ever, to safeguard their dreams and the future of their children. We portrayed this painful reality in 'The Kashmir Files', yet witnessing a similar situation occur again is profoundly heartbreaking. Enough is enough. It’s time to rise, to protect the essence of Kashmir and the spirit of humanity.”

'The Kashmir Files' is a drama film directed by Vivek Agnihotri. The film explores a fictional narrative centered around the 1990 exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from Indian-administered Kashmir.

It illustrates the exodus and the events leading up to it as a genocide. 'The Kashmir Files' features actors Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumaar, and Pallavi Joshi.

The storyline follows a Kashmiri Hindu college student raised by his exiled grandfather, shielded from the truth about his parents' deaths. After his grandfather's passing, the student, who had come to believe in college that the exodus was benign, becomes determined to uncover the truth behind his family's deaths.

The narrative alternates between the student’s present-day quest in 2020 and his family’s struggles from thirty years prior.
