New Delhi, April 23 (NationPress) In the wake of national sorrow and anger over the horrific terror strike in Jammu and Kashmir's (J&K) Pahalgam, former Director General of Police (DGP) SP Vaid made a strong statement, drawing parallels to 'Pulwama 2.0' and urging for a firm, Israel-style approach to dismantle Pakistan-backed terrorism.
After 16 individuals, including tourists, a Navy officer, and an Intelligence officer, fell victim to a horrific ambush in the Baisaran Valley, SP Vaid asserted that the attack was planned with direct involvement from Pakistan.
In an interview with IANS, he remarked, “This is a very tragic incident, particularly given that the attackers inquired about the victims’ religion before executing them. This resembles a Pulwama 2.0 scenario for our nation. I don’t believe this is a mere coincidence. Just two days prior, the Pakistan Army Chief made an inflammatory statement, and now this assault has occurred. This was clearly a targeted operation.”
He also suggested a link between this attack and a recent visit from a Hamas leader to Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK), labeling it a “well-planned and premeditated strike.”
“Our response should mirror that of Israel. Pakistan must never forget this. We must dismantle the core of the Pakistani Army,” he emphasized.
Vaid called for solidarity and a vigorous national reaction, stating, “We need to crush the backbone of Pakistan’s terrorist forces. Let them first demonstrate their faith, whether they are genuine Muslims or 'kafirs'. Raise your voices against them. This moment necessitates a powerful response from India.”
He mentioned that Union Home Minister Amit Shah is actively on-site, managing the crisis.
“The Home Minister has been on the ground since yesterday, evaluating the circumstances. He will soon issue instructions to all agencies. I am confident India is ready,” Vaid conveyed.
In light of the attack, security measures have been significantly increased in sensitive areas across J&K. Barbed wire barricades have been established, and rigorous vehicle inspections are being conducted, particularly at Sarjeevan near Uri Nala in Baramulla.
Additional forces have been dispatched to at-risk areas to avert further incidents.
Meanwhile, in a display of collective mourning and protest, numerous organizations in Udhampur district have called for a total bandh, seeking justice for the victims.
