Chennai, March 12 (NationPress) According to industry insiders, renowned actor Dhanush, who has several exciting projects in the pipeline, is anticipated to wrap up filming for director Rajkumar Periasamy's much-anticipated film, temporarily titled #D55, by September this year.

Following this, the actor is likely to shift his focus to other ventures, including one directed by Mari Selvaraj and another by Tamizharasan Pachamuthu.

Sources associated with the production of #D55 indicate that the team is currently engaged in the second shooting schedule in Chennai, which will feature several scenes with renowned Malayalam superstar Mammootty.

For those who may not be aware, Telugu actor Chaitu Jonnalagadda, who recently earned the Special Jury (Male) award at the 2025 Gaddar Telangana State Film Awards for his role in the Telugu film 'Raju Weds Rambai', has also joined the cast of #D55, alongside Dhanush and Mammootty.

Reports suggest that he has already completed several days of shooting for this film in Chennai, where he has worked alongside Dhanush and Sai Pallavi, portraying a character that features prominently throughout the film.

Director Rajkumar Periasamy recently unveiled the entire technical team for the project, revealing that cinematographer Ezhil Arasu will be behind the lens.

Editing duties will be handled by Kalaivanan R, and the film’s costume design is entrusted to Kavya Sriram. Although the art director Rajeevan was not present during the announcement, he was acknowledged as responsible for the production design.

The team has also confirmed that music for this highly anticipated film will be composed by Sai Abhyankkar.

Earlier, the production team had officially welcomed Mammootty to the project, with Wunderbar Films, one of the production houses involved, stating, "When the Big M chooses a story, it becomes history. Super excited to welcome Megastar @mammukka onboard #D55! We are honored! Thank you #Mammootty sir."

In a personal welcome on his X timeline, Rajkumar Periasamy expressed, "Dear @mammukka, the day you said ‘Yes’ I knew the almighty has blessed #D55 with Divinity. I’m honored and ecstatic to welcome you, our very own #Mammootty sir on board for the film! Can’t wait to see your magic unfold along with @dhanushkraja sir. Here’s to my #OyeMammootty times for life."

In response, Mammootty expressed his excitement, saying, "Elated and excited to be a part of this journey with @dhanushkraja and @Rajkumar_KP (smiley)."

It is noteworthy that Wunderbar Films, owned by Dhanush, had previously welcomed actress Sai Pallavi, stating, "She’s about grace and strength - all at once. Welcoming everybody’s favorite @Sai_Pallavi92 on board #D55. The hit combo returns to the big screen."

On January 30 of this year, the makers had also announced the inclusion of actress Sreeleela in the film.

With the announcement of this film, anticipation has surged, as the creators have described it as a magnum opus. Recently, another production house, R Take Studios, announced its collaboration with Wunderbar Films for this project.
