Mumbai, March 7 (NationPress) Actress Dia Mirza has once again expressed her alarm regarding the persistent environmental destruction, stating that her nearly five-year-old son comprehends that when trees are felled, "we are not merely clearing land but rather erasing life."

On her social media platforms, the actress shared a compelling message accompanied by a series of images underscoring the necessity of safeguarding nature.

In her post, she wrote, "More Green Please," emphasizing, "Our trees are not martyrs. They were never intended to be." In a more extensive note, she detailed the ecological crisis that Mumbai is confronting.

She articulated, "Mumbai is losing the very life systems that enable us to breathe — in Aarey, along our mangrove belts, across hills, creeks, and forests that have quietly protected us for generations. Old growth trees that sustain biodiversity, regulate climate, absorb floods, and provide us with oxygen cannot simply be ‘replaced.’ A sapling planted elsewhere cannot equate to a living forest."

Dia conveyed that even her young son instinctively grasps the ramifications of deforestation, remarking, "My nearly five-year-old understands this instinctively. He recognizes that when we cut down trees, we are not just clearing land — we are erasing life. Yet, we persist in labeling it development."

She further questioned, "If progress necessitates the annihilation of the very systems that sustain us, then we must ponder: progress for whom? Because the comforts of a few cannot come at the expense of a future that could become uninhabitable for all."

Dia asserted that Mumbai deserves a form of development that safeguards its forests, mangroves, hills, and rivers — not one that replaces them. "@mybmc, we the citizens of Mumbai are ready to collaborate with you and provide solutions to ensure we achieve progress while preserving nature."
