Mumbai, Nov 4 (NationPress) Television and Bollywood actress Lataa Saberwal appears to be deeply affected and distressed.
The actress recently posted a video on her social media, criticizing the authorities for uprooting a 1000-year-old banyan tree merely to pave the way for luxurious buildings.
In the video, she expressed her profound sadness and anger over the destruction of a tree that has witnessed countless generations. “At this moment, I feel utterly helpless, overwhelmed, and incredibly sorrowful. (Behind me stands a very ancient banyan tree that has been cut down.) I learned that a large complex is being constructed on the link road, and I feel powerless. I am troubled by the fact that I couldn't intervene when I had the chance,” Lataa shared.
She continued, “The trunk of that tree was exceptionally thick. Just by looking at it, one could tell it had existed for thousands of years, and it has been cut down without compassion. Its size provided shade even to the area where the new complex is being built, as well as to my building.”
She added, “You may hear the sounds behind me. The trunk has been reduced to a mere shadow of its former self. I feel so powerless. Why am I unable to do anything? I worry that its roots might still be alive. We are destroying life without realizing that its roots could still be thriving. Please, if anyone can intervene, do so.” With a glimmer of hope, she reflected, “Perhaps we can bring it back to life. Haven't we learned from history? Aren't we inviting disaster? What are we doing? Just for the sake of our comforts, luxuries, and wealth, we couldn't spare even a little space for that tree.”
Saberwal concluded, “I apologize for speaking so candidly, but I am incredibly upset. Please assist me if anyone can.” The actress, who recently announced her separation from her husband, actor Sanjeev Seth, after 15 years of marriage, is well-known for her role in the popular TV show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai as Rajshri.
Lataa and Sanjeev first crossed paths on the set of the beloved show “Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai,” where they portrayed the on-screen parents of the lead character, Akshara, played by Hina Khan. After dating for a while, they married in 2009 and have a son named Aarav.
In 2013, they even participated in the celebrity dance reality show Nach Baliye 6. Lataa is also recognized for her roles in shows such as Kehta Hai Dil, Shaka Laka Boom Boom, Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki, Main Teri Parchhain Hoon, and Devi, among others. She also starred in the successful film Vivaah featuring Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao.
In 2021, Lataa decided to leave daily soaps to focus on her own YouTube channel.
