Mumbai, Nov 21 (NationPress) During a recent episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati, actor Manoj Bajpayee shared a harrowing yet humorous tale of how Amitabh Bachchan nearly put his life in jeopardy.
Reflecting on this amusing incident from more than 26 years ago, Manoj disclosed his lifelong struggle with vertigo and how Amitabh cunningly persuaded him to undertake a daring stunt that challenged his fear of heights.
Manoj recounted, “Amitji once nearly got me killed. I suffer from severe vertigo. The action director and the film director, everyone, urged me to leap from a waterfall that stood around 150–200 feet tall. They assured me a harness would be used.”
Describing his predicament, Manoj remarked, “The guy who can’t even manage to stand 20 feet off the ground was being asked to ascend 150 feet! I adamantly declined. I said, ‘I’ll perish. I’ll have a heart attack.’ When my refusal didn’t sway them, they turned to Amitabh Bachchan for persuasion.” Manoj recalled how Big B attempted to assure him.
He stated, “Amitji said, ‘Listen, Manoj, I’m here. We’ll only go up to 50 feet. I’ve informed them I can’t take you any higher—it could be risky since you’re scared.’ They fitted us with harnesses and told me not to look down, only straight.” Manoj continued, “But I quickly realized we were climbing far beyond 50 feet. I yelled, ‘Sir! Sir! We’re ascending to 100 feet!’”
Amitabh, in his composed manner, replied, “If anything goes awry, tell Jaya I love her dearly.” This amusing revelation had host Amitabh Bachchan, actor Jaideep Ahlawat, and the audience in fits of laughter. Manoj Bajpayee and Jaideep Ahlawat graced the KBC set to promote their web series The Family Man 3, which premiered on November 21.
