Mumbai, Jan 23 (NationPress) A fresh allegation of fraud has emerged concerning the organisers of the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival (DPIFF).
A faction led by Anil Mishra and his associates is accused of exploiting the name of Dadasaheb Phalke, the Father of Indian Cinema, while falsely asserting government endorsement to host the DPIFF.
They allegedly misled celebrities including Bollywood icons Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, influencers, and industry professionals for illicit financial gain. Their false claims included having support from significant political figures like Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, which was intended to lend credibility to the event.
Several individuals involved are reportedly members of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and allegedly leveraged their positions to coerce participation.
The actions of Anil Mishra and his associates have tarnished the esteemed legacy of Dadasaheb Phalke, a fundamental pillar of Indian cinema. Many celebrities and industry stakeholders were deceived, leading to monetary losses and a breach of trust.
A formal legal complaint has been lodged by Aslam Shaikh and Shakil Patni at the Amboli Police Station to expose the fraud. Advocate Yasmeen Wankhede, sister of the former Narcotics Control Bureau director Sameer Wankhede (associated with the Aryan Khan case), is representing the complainants. She has called for stringent legal measures, highlighting the damage inflicted on the reputation of Indian cinema.
Political leaders and industry figures have denounced the scam and advised others to confirm the legitimacy of such events before involvement. All evidence is reported to be compiled in a video, which also features a leaked call recording with Mridula Tripathi, manager and spouse of actor Pankaj Tripathi.
