Los Angeles, Feb 26 (NationPress) Hollywood star Elle Fanning expressed her astonishment upon receiving an Oscar nomination for 'Sentimental Value'.

The 27-year-old actress is nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the upcoming Academy Awards ceremony, but she admitted that she was out celebrating with her sister, Dakota Fanning, the night before the announcements in January, as reported by ‘Female First UK’.

Elle recounted to The Hollywood Reporter, "I wasn't tuned in. Dakota and I had a late night out. I was in such a daze. I stumbled out bleary-eyed, shouting, 'Mom! Dakota! Wake up. I think I got it! I think I got it!' I must have looked like a crazed zombie, walking in circles and questioning, 'Is this real?'"

'Sentimental Value' garnered nine Oscar nominations, and Fanning highlighted that the most thrilling acknowledgment for the Norwegian film was Olivier Bugge Coutte's nomination for Best Film Editing.

The Maleficent actress shared, "What Olivier has accomplished with the film is remarkable; his editing and structure are so unique. I'm thrilled he wasn't overlooked because he played a crucial role in the film. I've come to realize that editors hold the key to your performance in many ways during the producing process.”

According to ‘Female First UK’, Elle mentioned that strong connections have formed among the cast and crew of 'Sentimental Value' since its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival last year.

She expressed, "The unity of our family and the fact that no one was sidelined, allowing us to continue celebrating together, is incredibly meaningful. I have been quite emotional throughout this entire journey. I’m still a bit glassy-eyed and in disbelief about it all.”

This Oscar nomination marks the first of Elle's career, and she acknowledges that it holds a special significance after acting since the age of two.

Elle remarked, "I started acting when I was two years old. This is my first Oscar nomination, and it means a lot to be recognized by my peers. You don’t truly understand how special that feels until it happens.”

The nomination comes after a diverse year for Elle, which also included her role in the sci-fi action movie 'Predator: Badlands'. She elaborated on her desire to avoid typecasting.

She stated, "You can never predict which projects will come your way or what is being written, but I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to work on such varied projects.”

“I enjoy being challenged. I like stepping into new roles that frighten me a bit because I believe that's how I can continue to grow. Maleficent was a fantastic experience that opened many doors for me, but it also created a box; people tend to associate me with the Disney princess role, and I'm like, 'Wait, please don’t do that to me.'”
