Singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding has confirmed that her sixth studio album is on the way, teasing that the release will arrive 'soon' — her first full-length record since 2023's Higher Than Heaven. The 39-year-old British artist made the announcement amid the debut of her new single in North East England.

The Creative Partnership Behind the Album

Goulding revealed that the forthcoming record was built around a close collaboration with producer and multi-instrumentalist Jack Rochon, whom she discovered on TikTok while he was still relatively unknown and based in Canada. 'I immediately connected with what he was doing creatively,' she said. 'I have always loved discovering emerging talent and championing new voices, just like I did when I first started out and discovered Starsmith.'

Rochon has since relocated to Los Angeles and worked with global superstar Beyoncé. Goulding described the recording process as unusually freeing: 'We've recorded hundreds of songs together, and I loved the freedom of exploring different sounds, feelings, thoughts, and experiences. It felt really organic and honest, like journaling through music.'

New Single 'Black Prada Dress'

Goulding recently debuted her latest single, 'Black Prada Dress', in North East England. Speaking about the track, she said: 'There's not one definitive experience that inspired it. It's directed at that negative, critical voice bringing you down. And that voice could be your own, internal voice, that self-critical, destructive one. I feel like we all have one of those, just like we have different versions of ourselves. I love the honesty of it, the rawness, and I hope people can connect to it in their own way.'

A Personal Album Shaped by Divorce

The forthcoming record reportedly addresses Goulding's separation from ex-husband Caspar Jopling in 2024, following five years of marriage. The couple share a son, Arthur, aged four. Goulding acknowledged she never anticipated making what amounts to a 'divorce album', adding a layer of personal candour that has characterised her most resonant work.
