Mumbai, September 5 (NationPress) Bollywood star Emraan Hashmi recently expressed his excitement about his upcoming film “OG”, marking his debut in Telugu cinema. He is particularly eager to share the screen with superstar Pawan Kalyan.
Emraan shared, “I was ecstatic when I received the offer for this film as it signifies my entry into Telugu films. What could be more exciting than facing off against superstar Pawan Kalyan on screen?”
The film, directed by Sujeeth, recently released its teaser. In “OG”, Emraan portrays a merciless crime lord who seizes control in the absence of the titular character. The teaser culminates in a dramatic reveal: Pawan Kalyan’s character, Ojas Gambheera, makes a return after a decade.
“Working alongside director Sujeeth and Pawan Kalyan has been an incredible journey. From my character design to my dialogues, I enjoyed every aspect and was thrilled to be part of this project,” he added.
The cast also includes Priyanka Mohan, Arjun Das, Prakash Raj, and Sriya Reddy, with music composed by Thaman S.
On the distribution front, Monk Films (Suman Prasar Bage) and Vibrant Vista Entertainments (Praveen Peddi) have acquired the theatrical rights for North India and Nepal, broadening the film's distribution. This film, produced by DVV Danayya of RRR fame, is set to hit theaters on September 25.
Emraan was last seen in “Ground Zero”, an action thriller directed by Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar. This film centers on BSF officer Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey, who was pivotal in the operation that led to the demise of terrorist Rana Tahir Nadeem, known as Ghazi Baba, in 2003.
The film features Emraan Hashmi, Sai Tamhankar, and Zoya Hussain in leading roles.
In addition to “OG”, Emraan is also set to star in “G2”, a Telugu action spy thriller helmed by Vinay Kumar Sirigineedi, marking his directorial debut. This film is a sequel to Goodachari (2018), with Adivi Sesh reprising his role.
Furthermore, he is involved in the second installment of “Awarapan”, scheduled for release on April 3, 2026. The announcement was made in March on the occasion of his 46th birthday.
Awarapan, an action crime film released in 2007 and directed by Mohit Suri, was an uncredited adaptation of the South Korean film A Bittersweet Life. The movie stars Emraan Hashmi, Shriya Saran, Mrinalini Sharma, and Ashutosh Rana.
In this film, gangster Shivam Pandit is given the task by his boss Bharat Malik to keep an eye on Reema, Malik's secret mistress from Pakistan.
