Los Angeles, Jan 13 (NationPress) Actress Eva Longoria is stepping up to aid the victims of the Los Angeles wildfires. In a poignant video message shared on Instagram, she expressed her support amidst the devastating situation.
In her message, Longoria announced a donation of $50,000 to the organization This Is About Humanity to assist frontline workers and families affected by the fires, according to People magazine.
"It has been a tumultuous week," she stated. "It's been devastating for countless individuals, including friends who have lost so much... memories and belongings that they worked tirelessly for."
According to People, the Desperate Housewives star shared that she and her family had to evacuate their home due to being "under a warning" and receiving multiple alarms. She also mentioned that she is currently providing shelter to friends who evacuated from other areas.
"We've donated clothing, and I literally emptied my pantry to deliver supplies to various donation centers," the actress said. "I will be supporting This Is About Humanity, which is matching donations up to $50,000 for essential workers and families impacted by the fires. Personally, I will also match that $50,000."
Longoria explained that the funds will "aid all these families who are working diligently to keep us supplied with food. These farmworkers continue to work under dangerous conditions, producing and harvesting our produce. Therefore, we will be supporting This Is About Humanity."
She concluded her video with an encouraging message to Los Angeles residents, urging them to "stay strong."
"I recognize there's a lot of information circulating on social media. This is not the time to analyze what went wrong. We need to focus on managing the situation right now," Longoria said. "Thank you to everyone out there helping and doing their part."
