New Delhi, April 22 (NationPress) Renowned television actor Fahmaan Khan asserts that revealing the emotional aspects of men on television is no longer viewed as a taboo. He emphasizes the necessity of showcasing vulnerability in conjunction with strength, leading to a more wholesome portrayal of male characters.
When questioned about whether displaying men's emotional sides on TV is considered taboo, Fahmaan responded to IANS, “No, not at all. Not anymore. I don't think so. It's not like before. There needs to be vulnerability, but there also needs to be a strong strength that should be depicted within that vulnerability so that people can find some inspiration in them.”
The 34-year-old actor, recognized for his roles as Aryan Singh Rathore in Imlie and Dr. Veer Pratap Singh Rajawat in Apna Time Bhi Aayega, acknowledges that society often struggles to accept men who are entirely vulnerable.
“Men who are completely vulnerable don't receive the same acceptance in society. It's not that they aren't allowed to show vulnerability, but they are expected to be resilient enough to bounce back from their softer, more emotional sides. And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that,” he explained.
The actor, currently seen in Iss Ishq Ka Rabb Rakha, believes that the differences in societal expectations between men and women stem from upbringing and genetic predispositions.
“This is how society differentiates between males and females and how they are raised in this world. It’s inherently linked to their genetics,” he added.
“So yes, it's not a taboo. I consider it beneficial to showcase such emotions, and it’s evident that people are highlighting the emotional dimensions of male characters in today’s television landscape. That's a positive step forward,” he stated.
Discussing his current role, Fahmaan portrays Ranbir Singh Bajwa in Iss Ishq Ka Rabb Rakha. The show narrates the love story between a proud sardar named Ranbir and Meghla, a Bengali woman, who navigate their cultural differences to find love.
