Hollywood star Vin Diesel has marked the 25th anniversary of the Fast & Furious franchise by announcing that the original 2001 film will return to cinemas across the United States and multiple countries worldwide, building anticipation for the franchise's final chapter, Fast Forever, slated for 2028.

Diesel's Anniversary Message

Diesel shared the milestone on Instagram, reflecting on the franchise's humble origins. 'When I was filming the first Fast, it was just me and my puppy… 25 years later, as we build the finale, Fast Forever, the original is returning to theaters in America and around the world,' he wrote.

The star listed confirmed re-release territories including Spain, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Germany, Mexico, Brazil, Italy, and China, adding that 'the list keeps growing.'

The original Fast & Furious film, released in 2001, was based on a 1998 Vibe magazine article titled 'Racer X' by Ken Li, with a screenplay by Gary Scott Thompson, Erik Bergquist, and David Ayer. What began as a street-racing story across the first four films gradually evolved into a globe-spanning heist and espionage saga from Fast Five onwards — a tonal pivot that dramatically expanded the franchise's global audience.

The series now spans 10 mainline films, with Fast Forever confirmed as the eleventh and final entry. The upcoming conclusion is expected to bring together threads from across the franchise's run.
