Mumbai, March 24 (NationPress) Filmmaker Hansal Mehta is set to unveil his latest creative venture—an AI-enhanced cooking series named ‘Khana Dil Se’ – An AI Journey Through India’s Kitchen.

This innovative project is a collaboration between Collective Studios and True Story Films, which was established by Hansal Mehta and producer Sahil Saigal.

The recently released teaser provides an initial glimpse at a unique episodic series that delves into India’s rich culinary heritage through the innovative application of artificial intelligence.

For Mehta, Khana Dil Se signifies a return to the domain where he first gained recognition.

For those unfamiliar, in the early 90s, Hansal Mehta produced Khana Khazana, the groundbreaking cooking show that catapulted Chef Sanjeev Kapoor to fame.

This show transformed how Indians perceived food on television. Now, three decades later, Mehta is revisiting the culinary scene, this time with AI as his creative partner. Joining him in this venture is Indian Master Chef Shamsher Ahmed, who will serve as a subject matter expert and culinary consultant.

At its core, Khana Dil Se is a cultural exploration of India through its kitchens, weaving narratives of migration, memory, and identity through recipes handed down through generations.

The role of AI extends beyond mere visualization; it will act as a collaborator in the storytelling process. Khana Dil Se aims to reclaim food as a vibrant element of cultural heritage. Regarding the series, Hansal Mehta expressed, “Food is memory.

When you prepare a dish from another culture, you’re not just following a recipe; you’re entering a fragment of someone else’s life.”

“A recipe embodies an entire history: of place, of migration, of a grandmother’s touch. These are perhaps humanity’s most enduring cultural records, passed down through time and across borders, surviving when almost nothing else does. This essence makes food an authentic lens to understand people and their true identities.”

He further stated, “With Khana Dil Se, we aspire to utilize every available tool, including AI, to trace these narratives before they fade away.”

Producer Sahil Saigal, who also owns a restaurant, remarked, “Khana Dil Se provided an opportunity to explore what food television could become if AI were integrated into the process—not to replace the human experience, but to deepen our understanding of it. There are culinary traditions across India that remain undocumented. This initiative aims to uncover them.”
