Key Takeaways
Los Angeles, April 18 (NationPress) Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway disclosed that Grammy award-winning artist Taylor Swift handed her a personal note during Swift's concert in Germany as part of the Eras Tour.
During her appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on April 15, Hathaway discussed various pop culture figures who inspired her portrayal of the titular character in her upcoming film, Mother Mary. Among these influential artists, she specifically mentioned Swift.
The two celebrities had a fleeting encounter while Hathaway was filming Mother Mary in Bonn, Germany, coinciding with a stop on Swift's Eras Tour. Hathaway and her family made the trip from Bonn to Gelsenkirchen to experience Swift's live performance, as reported by people.com.
"It was incredible. When she stepped onto the stage, the entire venue erupted," Hathaway reminisced.
"She has this remarkable ability to make the audience feel cherished, and I certainly felt that love from her."
At one point during the concert, Hathaway thought she noticed Swift waving directly at her.
"Oh my God, Annie, you’re imagining it, thinking Taylor Swift is waving at you right now," she recalled.
Just then, she felt a tap on her shoulder and turned to see someone presenting her with a note.
"This is from Taylor, she wants you to have it," the person said.
Overwhelmed, Hathaway unfolded the note, which stated: “I’m thrilled you’re here. I will be waving enthusiastically at you.”
Her reaction was one of pure excitement as she exclaimed: "Oh my God, she’s truly magical! She actually did it! And I was right; I am special!"
Swift was one of many artists Hathaway cited as significant influences for her character in Mother Mary, noting how the pop star felt like an angel watching over them during filming.
“David Lowery, the film's director and writer, is a devoted Swift fan. Her Reputation Tour notably influenced the concert scenes,” she mentioned.
“I was also deeply inspired by her documentary Miss Americana, which showcases her vulnerability during a time of personal challenges amidst her soaring fame. I was already a fan, but after seeing that, my empathy for her and her humanity grew immensely.”
