Mumbai, Aug 17 (NationPress) Hema Malini shared her experiences regarding the action sequences she performed as Basanti in Ramesh Sippy's legendary film 'Sholay', which celebrated its 50th anniversary on Friday.
In a special conversation with IANS, she was inquired about her ability to execute stunts for the film.
The esteemed actress and politician disclosed that she has been involved in action scenes in numerous films.
"Fight sequences were often tailored for me -- 'If Hema Malini is in the film, she must have a fight.' No matter what character I played, there had to be a fight scene," she explained.
Reflecting on 'Sholay', she noted: "The action scenes were primarily during the chase in the tanga (horse cart) -- with dacoits pursuing me. The film features a stunning chase sequence. Each scene is a dynamic shot, nothing remains static."
She expressed her desire to share 'Sholay' with her grandchildren.
When asked if her grandchildren had seen 'Sholay', she replied: "I don't believe they have, but since it has turned fifty, I will definitely show it to them. I plan to invite them over to watch it in my home mini-theater."
She also revealed that she initially felt dissatisfied with her role in 'Sholay' as she perceived it to be minor compared to her previous successful films like 'Seeta Aur Geeta'.
"When 'Sholay' was offered to me, after 'Seeta Aur Geeta', the same director, Ramesh Sippy, told me, 'There are many characters and you are one of them.' I felt a bit disheartened, wondering why my role was so small and not more significant."
However, the director later reassured her that her character would have a significant impact, encouraging her to accept the role.
