On May 28, the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department, in collaboration with the Border Security Force (BSF), organized a special event in the Octroi area of Suchetgarh aimed at promoting border tourism in Jammu. This initiative seeks to highlight the region's remarkable landscape and the determination of communities residing near the border. During the event, Huma Qureshi connected with families impacted by ceasefire violations and cross-border shelling, and she also engaged with the brave personnel of the BSF and the Indian Army, conveying her gratitude for their service.
Qureshi praised the Indian Army and BSF for their valor during Operation Sindoor and their steadfast commitment to protecting India's borders. In her remarks, she stated, "I came to uplift the spirits of our BSF soldiers, Army personnel, and especially our female soldiers. Yet, the warmth you all extended to me was overwhelming and deeply touching. It reaffirmed how fortunate we are to have you safeguarding our borders and ensuring our safety."
She further encouraged, "Do not allow hate to triumph. Visit Jammu and Kashmir as travelers and leave as believers. Your bravery has fostered peace along our borders. My gratitude goes out to the BSF and the Army. Recent events have emphasized the critical nature of your roles for our nation. Jammu and Kashmir is the backbone of India, standing strong and united, embodying your courage and sacrifices. I salute you and your families wholeheartedly."
In addition, Qureshi emphasized, "I urge you not to let fear become the defining aspect of Jammu and Kashmir. Let the world witness the peace, strength, and love that genuinely represent the spirit of this region. Today, we stand united with pride and hope, which is the essence of Jammu and Kashmir and of India as a whole."
Huma Qureshi also took part in a cultural event organized by the Tourism Department in partnership with the BSF at Octroi, which is famous for its weekend 'Wagah-style' ceremony featuring a synchronized beating retreat performed by BSF personnel.
