The 72-year-old actor shared how he was caught off guard when he met the Ticket to Paradise star backstage at his Broadway performance of Good Night, and Good Luck, alongside Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney, as reported by femalefirst.co.uk.
While appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers, he expressed: "I was very excited. After the play, I was looking around and (McCartney and I) both had the opportunity to go backstage and meet George and the cast. I saw him in person for the very first time, and there he was."
"I just thought, 'My golly, I'm very starstruck,' because he holds a special place in my heart."
The Jurassic Park actor described Clooney as being "very kind" and couldn't resist sharing how it was the former ER star who initiated a photo together, rather than the other way around.
"He was extremely nice. I know this sounds like bragging, but he said, 'Jeff, Jeff Goldblum. I adore Jeff Goldblum. Come here, Jeff, let’s snap a picture,' and that made my day and my year."
In addition, Goldblum praised the Beatles, reminiscing about discovering the legendary band, which included John Lennon, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison, during his teenage years.
He reminisced: "Everyone has such stories. But I was a kid when I Want to Hold Your Hand and 'She Loves You came out. I remember Suzy Connolly... in her cut-off jean shorts, and I was about 12 or 13. They said, 'Come and listen to this song.' It’s all intertwined in my nostalgic heart in a way that is incredibly exciting and meaningful."
