Key Takeaways
Chennai, Jan 12 (NationPress) Although actor Jiiva expressed joy over the release of his film 'Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil' for Pongal, he also conveyed his disappointment regarding the absence of actor Vijay's 'Jana Nayagan' during the festival.
At the trailer launch event for his film, now slated to debut on January 15, Jiiva stated, "We have put in a lot of effort, and we hope for your support. We were initially scheduled to release on January 30, but fate has brought us to January 15. Many theatre owners are reaching out to us due to the gap left by the postponement of 'Jana Nayagan'. While it’s encouraging to hear from theatres, we are also saddened that 'Jana Nayagan' is not releasing (for the festival)."
Jiiva further mentioned, "We are all eagerly anticipating 'Jana Nayagan' because Vijay sir has been a pillar of support for numerous films, producers, actors, and technicians over the past 25 to 30 years. We've collaborated with him on several projects, and we stand by him. Naturally, we are waiting for 'Jana Nayagan'."
For those unaware, 'Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil' is directed by Nithish Sahadev and marks Jiiva's 45th film. It was filmed in just 45 days in a picturesque village within the Western Ghats.
Produced by Kannan Ravi, the narrative focuses on the events leading up to a wedding and was primarily shot at night.
"We filmed for 40 nights in a stunning location, and the entire crew functioned as one large family. It was a delightful experience. By the end of our shoot, many of us were sad to see it conclude. The locals, some of whom appeared in the film, treated us like family and blessed us as we departed. They must be wishing that this film finds success upon its release," Jiiva expressed.
In a conversation with IANS, he explained, "The story revolves around conflicts between two families, and I portray a village Panchayat chief who mediates their disputes."
Alongside Jiiva, the cast includes Thambi Ramaiya, Ilavarasu, Prathana Nathan, Jensen Dhivakar, Jaiwanth, Meenakshi, Sarjin Kumar, Rajesh Pandian, Subash Kannan, Amith Mohan, Anuraj OB, Sharath, and Savithri, among others.
