Mumbai, July 31 (NationPress) - Renowned for her roles in Ozark and Inventing Anna, actress Julia Garner discusses her attraction to the upcoming mystery horror film “Weapons”.
Directed by Zach Cregger, known for the cinematic successes IT and The Conjuring, Weapons features a unique blend of horror and humor.
Garner revealed, “I was a huge fan of Barbarian. Upon reading the script, it was incredibly original—something I've never encountered before. In today’s world, originality is increasingly hard to find. The ensemble cast and Zach’s writing and direction were compelling factors for me.”
Reflecting on her first meeting with Cregger, she described him as a genuine and kind-hearted individual.
“My initial impression was that he possessed a clear vision and direction, which is crucial for me. While one might assume all directors are direct, that is not always the case.”
She continued, “Zach communicates his vision with such grace, a rare quality in this industry.”
Garner admitted to being easily frightened.
“I get scared very quickly, but I found Barbarian had a fascinating tone. It was undeniably terrifying but incorporated a lot of humor, which I appreciate. I believe emotions can be multifaceted.”
“Zach’s filmmaking style is rich with humor. To me, comedy and horror are two sides of the same coin,” she stated.
“A horror film cannot be great without comedic relief.”
She emphasized the importance of this balance across genres.
Garner elaborated, “The script for Weapons merges realism with surrealism. It’s akin to a Dali painting; the atmosphere feels entirely real, yet surreal events unfold.”
Weapons narrates a chilling tale of a night when all but one child from Justine Gandy's classroom mysteriously disappears. As Justine and the community probe for answers, they confront the eerie truth behind the children's vanishing.
The film stars Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, Cary Christopher, along with Benedict Wong and Amy Madigan.
New Line Cinema presents a Subconscious/Vertigo Entertainment/BoulderLightPictures Production, a Zach Cregger film, Weapons. It will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and is set for theatrical release in India on August 8, 2025.
