Los Angeles, Aug 13 (NationPress) Hollywood star Jennifer Aniston recounted her struggle with a studio regarding a brunette wig for the 2011 comedy “Horrible Bosses”.
In a career retrospective video interview with Vanity Fair, Aniston revealed she had to contend with Warner Bros. to don a brunette wig for her role in the film. The studio preferred to showcase Aniston's signature blonde locks.
“I fought for that wig. That was not an easy battle,” Aniston expressed.
She elaborated, “I wanted my character to look different. The studio's argument, and I apologize for calling you out, was that ‘we are afraid it won’t look like you.’ That’s the entire point! I still believe it might resemble me a little. But I’m thankful I advocated for it and stood firm.”
Aniston took on the role of Dr. Julia Harris, a sexually aggressive dentist harassing her assistant, played by Charlie Day, according to reports from Variety.
This raucous R-rated comedy, along with the 2013 film “We’re the Millers,” marked a significant shift in Aniston's career, moving away from her typical “girl next door” image.
“I was constantly portrayed as the girl next door or the insincere one,” Aniston remarked.
“It was exhilarating to portray something so distant from my true self. That was what the director appreciated. It’s so far removed from what one would expect from me. That’s the thrill of it. It made the experience more creatively stimulating for me, undoubtedly.”
“Horrible Bosses,” which also featured Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, Colin Farrell, Kevin Spacey, and Jamie Foxx, achieved box office success, grossing over $200 million globally.
The 56-year-old actress and most of the original cast reunited for the 2014 sequel, “Horrible Bosses 2.”
