Mumbai, July 10 (NationPress) Renowned artist Kailash Kher celebrated both Guru Purnima and his birthday by spearheading the 9th edition of "Nayii Udaan" — an initiative dedicated to promoting emerging talent.

Reflecting on how he chose to honor his birthday, Kher remarked, “For me, birthdays signify not just celebration, but a chance for contribution. Nayii Udaan serves as my tribute to the sacred bond of Guru-Shishya Parampara — a tradition that transcends music and enriches life itself. This year’s edition beautifully embodies its essence.”

Speaking on Nayii Udaan, the Padma Shree awardee stated, “This platform is more than just a place to discover talent; it’s about nurturing it with genuine care, love, and guidance. I am committed to every unheard voice and every unseen dream.”

The event took place at St. Andrew’s Auditorium and featured notable personalities like Anup Jalota, Gayatri Asokan, Devangana Chauhan, Ameet Satam, and Sakil Mohmmad, among others.

In honor of Guru Purnima, this year’s theme was centered around Guru-Shishya Parampara.

During the evening, Kher's former mentees took to the stage, not only showcasing their talents but also mentoring the next generation, fostering the rich tradition of Guru-Shishya Parampara.

This year’s mentors included Amit Gupta, Priyani Vani Pandit, Abhas Joshi, Hriday Gattani, and Purusharth Jain, who were paired with 10 exceptional singers chosen from over 200 applicants nationwide.

These submissions were gathered through an innovative digital talent hunt conducted on social media.

Presented by Kailash Kher and Kailasa Entertainment, in collaboration with Kailasa Records, KKALA (Kailash Kher Academy for Learning Art), and the Kailash Kher Foundation, Nayii Udaan opened its doors to the public for the first time via BookMyShow.

Interestingly, Kher embarked on a journey at the young age of 14, leaving home to find a guru or institution to hone his musical skills. This quest led him through years of studying classical and folk music.
