New Delhi, June 26 (NationPress) Bollywood sensation Kajol is eagerly anticipating the premiere of her latest film, Maa. She revealed that acting in this horror flick was emotionally taxing due to the required continuous high-tension atmosphere in each scene.
This marks not the first time Kajol has portrayed a mother on screen. Her initial foray into motherhood in films was in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham… back in 2001, followed by roles in films like We Are Family, Helicopter Eela, Tribhanga, and Salaam Venky.
However, her role in Maa posed a different challenge, demanding more emotional investment than her previous portrayals.
“It took a lot from me because of the fact that it's a horror film,” she explained.
Interestingly, Kajol admitted she is not a fan of horror movies, which left her unprepared for the genre's emotional intensity.
“I didn't realize that working on a horror film would entail such a heightened pitch throughout, as I am not an avid horror viewer. I was unaware of the emotional tone that every horror film carries,” she reflected, emphasizing the challenges of maintaining a high level of alertness.
“Yes, it was incredibly draining as an actor. Consistently keeping that emotional intensity during every shot was very taxing,” she shared.
Maa is a mythological horror film directed by Vishal Furia. The film features Kajol in the lead role, alongside actors Ronit Roy, Indraneil Sengupta, and Kherin Sharma.
The plot revolves around Ambika, who, after her husband dies under supernatural circumstances, returns to his hometown with her daughter, only to encounter a demonic curse that threatens their lives. The film is set to release on June 27.
