Mumbai, June 26 (NationPress) Director Anurag Basu, preparing for the premiere of his new film 'Metro...In Dino', has disclosed a rather alarming trait of his regular collaborator, music composer Pritam.
In a recent conversation with IANS prior to the film’s debut, Anurag revealed that Pritam has a tendency to obsessively make last-minute changes to his tracks, even when deadlines are looming.
Anurag stated, “It’s quite unsettling during this critical post-production phase; he continually insists, ‘I’ll add this in the background, I’ll include that.’ He becomes intensely possessive over every song and every note.”
Despite this, the director commended Pritam for his ability to detach himself once a song is released.
He elaborated, “Once the song is out, he's off to the next project. However, up until that point, he can be quite overwhelming. He invests a lot in producing songs, with musicians recording in Prague and others in Miami, but as soon as it’s released, he swiftly moves on.”
Previously, Anurag fondly reflected on his collaborations with the late actor Irrfan and the late singer KK during 'Life in a Metro'.
He recounted, “I had to persuade Irrfan; when I pitched the story to him, he felt his role lacked substance. I’m not a great storyteller, and I failed to instill confidence in him regarding the significance of his character. I ended up calling Sutapa to help convince him, and she did! During our first scene together, he was thrilled.”
The director confessed that he struggled with the narration, which impacted Irrfan’s perception of the script.
Produced by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series, in collaboration with Anurag Basu Productions Pvt. Ltd., 'Metro In Dino' is set for theatrical release on July 4, 2025.
