Patna, June 7 (NationPress) With the buzz surrounding his potential return to Bihar's political landscape, Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan hinted at participating in the forthcoming Bihar Assembly elections, asserting that the ultimate decision lies with the party's Parliamentary Board.
Upon arriving in Patna to a warm welcome from supporters, Chirag Paswan indicated that vying for the Bihar Assembly elections could be a tactical approach to solidify his party's influence and enhance the NDA's strike rate.
“Conversations are taking place regarding my participation in the Assembly elections. The Parliamentary Board will make the final call,” Chirag Paswan remarked, subtly signaling his willingness to consider the possibility.
Previously, Chirag Paswan has expressed a strong desire to re-engage in Bihar's politics, with senior party figures, including Jamui MP and his brother-in-law Arun Bharti, labeling him as the “hope of Bihar’s people” and a potential Chief Ministerial candidate.
Despite this, Chirag Paswan has categorically rejected any aspirations to usurp Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, emphasizing that his focus is on fortifying the NDA.
“Some individuals within the alliance are fostering misunderstandings by insinuating that I seek the CM's position. I want to clarify — should I contest, it would be to invigorate party workers and elevate our alliance’s strike rate, not for personal gain,” he stated.
He also drew comparisons with the BJP, noting that senior leaders often run in state elections to garner grassroots support.
Addressing the surge in crime in Bihar, the Union Minister recognized public concern and assured that he has communicated his worries to the state administration. “Indeed, there have been alarming incidents in Bihar. While I am not a member of the state government and lack MLAs, I am part of the broader policy-making framework. I’ve conveyed my concerns to the government. I plan to visit Muzaffarpur to meet the family affected by the recent horrific rape case,” he said.
Additionally, Chirag Paswan criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who has been vocal against the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, dismissing Gandhi’s accusations of EVM tampering and election manipulation.
“When the Congress loses, they blame EVMs. Rahul Gandhi should reflect on why, despite ruling for almost 55 years, the public persistently rejects the Congress,” Paswan remarked.
He also condemned the Opposition’s criticisms of Prime Minister Modi, stating: “The opposition lacks substantial issues to address. Merely criticizing the Prime Minister without credible arguments achieves nothing.”
Chirag Paswan reaffirmed his steadfast support for Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, emphasizing that the objective is to create a more robust government under his leadership. “This is not about individuals; it’s about the alliance. I wholeheartedly support CM Nitish Kumar. The NDA will reclaim power with a stronger mandate,” he concluded.
