Mumbai, Dec 8 (NationPress) Renowned filmmaker Karan Johar recently took to social media to discuss his personal battle with travel anxiety. Acknowledging the potential for online trolling, KJo opened up about what some might label a 'champagne problem,' expressing his hope that many can relate to his experiences.
In his latest social media update, the director of 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' shared insights into what travel anxiety manifests as for him.
In his own words, he mentioned, "I feel an overwhelming need to arrive at the airport far too early, sometimes even before the ground staff is present. In the lounge, I find myself checking my passport and boarding pass repeatedly. Once seated, I anxiously await the pilot’s announcement regarding the flight duration, feeling as if my life depends on it… (sic)."
Karan also revealed his heightened sensitivity to weather announcements during flights.
"When informed of a 'smooth ride,' I can relax, but when pilots mention 'a few bumps ahead,' I remain on edge throughout the flight, anticipating those bumps," he added.
During shorter flights, Karan finds himself checking the flight map every ten minutes, while on longer journeys, the 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' director resorts to taking a pill and hoping to fall asleep, although his subconscious remains alert to potential turbulence.
As part of his anxiety, Karan feels an overwhelming urge to be excessively courteous to the cabin crew, often smiling as if he were in a Colgate advertisement.
Describing his pre-landing routine, KJo shared, "An hour before landing, I prepare myself (though not for any circling or air traffic) and then rush out to beat every other passenger as if it's a limbo race… for no apparent reason."
Actress Soni Razdan empathized with Karan’s experience in the comments, stating, "I can completely relate. However, it’s getting better as I travel more. Turbulence is certainly not my ally, but after visiting Antarctica, I feel I can handle anything."
